A sweet little village rug from Central Turkey, woven in the loop technique with unusual colors. The design, consisting of ascending stepped arches topped with Horn-like shapes, is fairly well-known in the region, both in pile rugs and flat-weaves. It is often assumed to represent the "mihrab," the niche in a prayer rug, but its origins are probably more archaic. The rug is in excellent state of preservation.
